Matt Hayden is a Senior Director at Mission Strategies with unique experience in the energy sector spanning policy and technical roles — with a background in chemical engineering that grounds his approach to complex energy policy challenges.
Background
Prior to joining Mission, Matt was a Manager of Government Relations at Breakthrough Energy, where he led House Republican outreach on various clean energy policies including carbon management, hydrogen, transmission, nuclear, tax, trade, and appropriations.
Matt previously worked for Congressman H. Morgan Griffith (R-VA) and Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH), working closely on issues in the Energy and Commerce Committee and the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis. His continued interest in the energy industry led him to participate in two virtual delegations to China regarding U.S.-China relations on energy and climate.
Matt is a graduate of the University of Dayton, where he earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering. During this time, Matt worked in various roles at chemical process plants in the energy industry.
